In the Comfort of Your Home
I receive weekly requests from individuals for information about fear of flying
programs
in their respective geographic areas. They are individuals looking for a
classroom environment with which to study and learn about themselves and the
airplanes they fear. Since there are so few formal fear of flying programs
available, this is very difficult to provide, We are, in fact, working on
that problem at the Institute for Human Factors. Until then, however, the
videos we have prepared offer the next best alternative to the live class -
because these videos are a complete reproduction of the class that we have
taught at General Mitchell International Airport for the last 14 years. If
you know other fearful flyers, and most often you will, you can even create more
of a classroom environment by viewing the videos together - with discussion at
the completion of each major subject.
Two
Levels of Coverage
You can choose from two different levels of video coverage. Each video
program includes the complete book and a final examination.

The
Book and Virtual Flight Program requires a complete reading of the book,
"Flying in the Comfort Zone: Twelve Lessons ...".
After you have read the book, insert the tape into your VCR for Dr. Tomaro's
lecture on Flight Safety and the Safety of Flight, followed by a one hour
Virtual Reality flight. Filmed from the viewpoint of an aircraft
passenger, this video helps the fearful flyer anticipate many of the common
movements of the aircraft. Its uniqueness is that it is completely
bonded to the class instruction and the book. Take the Final
Examination after you have completed the video and, if your grade is high
enough, you are ready to try flying for real. See the complete

The
Complete Video Seminar is our
most comprehensive program. While all of our other material is based
upon the program at General Mitchell International Airport, This program
exactly reproduces the program at General Mitchell. You receive the
book, a classroom workbook from which you study as you watch the 7 1/2 hour
video (3 VCR cassettes) and the final examination. With a workbook
full of homework, if you complete this program according to design, you will
be ready for a trip to the airport. If you are not quite ready after
this course, you will know exactly what to ask for when you visit a local
professional. |
